Liverpool getting closer to €70m deal

Liverpool are reportedly getting closer to a €70m transfer. The Reds have been working on it for a little while now.

Liverpool have spent a lot of money already this summer. Florian Wirtz counts for the vast majority of that, of course.

The Reds have broken their transfer record to sign the German playmaker. £100m went to Bayer Leverkusen and with that, Liverpool secured one of the biggest talents in world football.

But he's not the only deal. Jeremie Frimpong also arrived from Leverkusen for just shy of £30m. Milos Kerkez will join him for even more money - we're expecting a £40m deal to be announced any moment now.

The crazy thing is that Liverpool have done all of this without major player sales. Their Premier League PSR spending room has been great enough that they haven't really had to.

Though, the major sales are coming and the Reds appear to be closing in on a €70m deal.

Liverpool to sell Darwin Nunez

Gazzetta dello Sport claims Liverpool and Napoli are discussing Darwin Nunez. Now, they're far from the only outlet claiming that, of course.

The Italian champions are eager to sign Nunez, as reported by just about everyone right now. They hope to seal a deal for a player they believe can move them up another level.

But there is a 'catch'. The Gazzetta report says Napoli have offered around €40m for Nunez, while Liverpool want close to €70m.

That's an enormous price difference but the suggestion is that Napoli are considering a major offer. They're big fans of Nunez and really want this deal to happen.

But they must get closer to that €70m - maybe even paying all of it - if they're to sign the Uruguayan. Napoli's consideration, though, suggests the chances of that are growing.

It appears Liverpool are getting closer to their valuation. That would be a major deal and one that potentially funds further major transfers later in the window.
