Liverpool given incredible British transfer RECORD price for third time in a year

Liverpool have once again been quoted a British transfer record fee. That's the third time in the span of a year.

Liverpool twice broke their transfer record in 2025. In fact, they twice struck deals that at least could have broken the British transfer record.

The first was for Florian Wirtz. The German eventually moved to Liverpool for £100m, making him the Reds' first nine-figure signing.

However, add-ons there could see the deal rise to around £117m. That would have broken the British record at the time, though that's no longer the case.

Because Liverpool went out and broke it outright later in the summer transfer window. Signing Alexander Isak did that - he joined the club for £120m that could rise all the way to £130m (the BBC).

Massive deals, then, for two of Europe's greatest talents. And now it seems the Reds are being quoted a British transfer record price once again.

Micky van de Ven to Liverpool?

It's starting to sound more and more likely that Liverpool make a move for Tottenham Hotspur's Micky van de Ven this year. Reports continue to grown around a potential deal and now Spurs are setting their asking price.

Journalist Ben Jacobs, though, suggests that price will be astronomically high. He told the Last Word on Spurs podcast that a 'British transfer record fee' is wanted for the Dutch defender.

Now, that seems absolutely insane, really. Van de Ven is a good player and someone Liverpool could potentially take a chance on. But he's nowhere close to that kind of value.
