Liverpool have FINALLY found Mo Salah's successor

Is Frimpong Liverpool’s perfect Salah back up?

Frimpong has created two goals in his last four matches, and the 25-year-old could easily have had another assist on Thursday.

Finding the final pass was the only thing that let him down on the evening, and he came within inches of finding an open teammate in the box on several occasions.

When Salah left for AFCON, many supporters assumed that Federico Chiesa would come in as the natural back up, but minutes have been split mostly between Frimpong and Dominik Szoboszlai.

Liverpool have looked most dangerous with Frimpong on the right, allowing Szoboszlai to dominate the midfield, and the Dutchman’s pace has really stood out.

Pace is something that Slot has admitted he wants more of in his team, and pace like Frimpong’s is very reminiscent of Salah’s early days in at Anfield.

An unfortunate injury to Conor Bradley could see Frimpong moved deeper once again, but Slot may not want to hinder momentum and as he has looked so good on the right-wing it might make sense to keep him there.

Frimpong will no doubt be handed more chances to prove himself as a member of Liverpool’s front three and, with Salah’s future uncertain, his long-term future at Anfield may be as part of the attack not the defence.
