Liverpool are reportedly in the “final stages” of transfer talks with Lyon over the sale of Tyler Morton.
The midfielder is seeking to leave Anfield this summer after failing to break into Arne Slot’s side last season, making zero Premier League appearances as the club romped to the title.
Morton, who has made 14 senior appearances for the Reds since making his debut in 2021, spent the previous two campaigns on loan with Blackburn Rovers and Hull City respectively.
Sky Sports News report that the 22-year-old has been the subject of a number of enquiries this summer from clubs in the UK, as well as Europe.
Ipswich Town, Sporting Braga, Strasbourg and West Ham United have all “expressed an interest” in the youngster, but Lyon appear to have won the race to his signature.
Fabrizio Romano claims that the French outfit and Liverpool are in the “final stages” of negotiations over a £15 million deal.
L’Équipe reported earlier in the week that Lyon had reached a “contractual agreement” with Morton, who has one year left to run on his current terms with Liverpool.
When asked by The Redmen TV last week what his targets were for the upcoming season, Morton responded: “I’m looking for gametime, simple as that really.
“I think last season was tough for gametime for myself, so it was a big learning year for myself. I learned a lot off the players and manager, but now I’m ready to play.”
Morton will be the sixth first-team player to seal a permanent exit from Liverpool this summer following the departures of Trent Alexander-Arnold, Caoimhin Kelleher, Nathaniel Phillips, Jarell Quansah and Luis Diaz.
