Liverpool’s injury list is growing as they prepare for a massive Merseyside derby immediately following the international break

Liverpool have received some mixed news on the injury front with the first international break of the year now underway.

The Reds were handed a major injury scare following their Carabao Cup final defeat by Newcastle last week, as Arne Slot’s side missed out on the chance to claim the first piece of major silverware of the English domestic season.

Though Liverpool are still firmly on course to clinch the Premier League title this season as they headed into the international break 12 points clear of second-placed Arsenal with nine games remaining.

Slot will be hopeful that the club’s international stars return in one piece as they look to wrap up the title as soon as possible. And with that said, here is all the latest Liverpool injury news and return dates.

Ryan Gravenberch has emerged as a new injury concern for Liverpool ahead of their Merseyside derby showdown with Everton next month.

The Dutch midfielder started as usual in Sunday’s Carabao Cup final defeat by Newcastle, but was replaced just over 15 minutes from time by eventual goalscorer Federico Chiesa.

It has now emerged that the 22-year-old suffered a knock at Wembley that initially did not prevent him from joining up with the Netherlands squad for their upcoming two-legged Nations League quarter-final tie against Spain.

However, the Oranje have now confirmed that Gravenberch has left Ronald Koeman’s training camp early on the eve of the home clash with Spain in Amsterdam due to injury and returned to Liverpool for further assessment.

The Netherlands national team said in a statement on Wednesday night: “Ryan Gravenberch has left the Oranje's training camp this evening.

“The midfielder is still suffering from an injury sustained over the weekend that prevents him from playing in the matches against Spain. Take care, Ryan!”

Potential return date: Unknown pending assessment, potentially April 2, vs Everton (H)

Harvey Elliott

On a more positive note, it would appear that Harvey Elliott is fine after being seen limping on his way out of Wembley last weekend.

The Liverpool midfielder was seen taking part in training with the England Under-21 squad at St George’s Park ahead of friendlies against France and Portugal, suggesting he has quickly shaken off the knock suffered late on against Newcastle when he was floored by Joelinton.

Trent Alexander-Arnold

Liverpool were without Trent Alexander-Arnold against Newcastle after he suffered an ankle injury in the second-leg loss to PSG, with Jarell Quansah deputising at right-back as expected.

Slot said before the final that Alexander-Arnold would be back before the end of the season, but he could not be sure exactly when.

“So, Trent is indeed not available,” Slot said. “He will not be there at the final. But he is still to be assessed for how long it's going to take but we do expect him back in the end of the season.”

Potential return date: Unknown

Conor Bradley

The absence of Alexander-Arnold has been compounded by that of chief deputy Conor Bradley, who has not played since suffering a hamstring injury in the 2-2 Premier League draw at Aston Villa last month.

Slot said then that the academy graduate would be out for “a few weeks”, adding: “I cannot tell exactly how many, but it is clear that he went off with a muscle injury and that it is going to take a while before he is back.”

The injured Bradley was left out of the Northern Ireland squad for upcoming friendlies against Switzerland and Sweden, so he won’t be back in action until April at the earliest.

Potential return date: April 2025

Joe Gomez

Continuing Liverpool’s dearth of right-back options, Joe Gomez missed the whole of January with a hamstring injury and then suffered a setback just 10 minutes into his return at Plymouth in the FA Cup.

The England defender underwent surgery and Slot said he would be sidelined for “a long time”, though did add that he could potentially return just before the end of the season.

Potential return date: May 2025

Young midfielder Tyler Morton is currently recovering from a shoulder operation performed in February and it remains to be seen if he will be involved for Liverpool again before the end of the season.
