Liverpool are leading Arsenal in the race to sign Paris Saint-Germain forward Bradley Barcola, according to journalist Ben Jacobs.
Arsenal have been linked with Barcola as an alternative to Aston Villa’s Morgan Rogers, who is their primary target.
However, the Gunners are not in active negotiations to sign the France international, with the club focusing on a deal for Rogers.
Liverpool are seriously considering a move for the 23-year-old as they continue their search for Mohamed Salah’s replacement.
RB Leipzig’s Yan Diomande was their priority target, but the Ivorian has opted to join PSG.
Liverpool were also linked with Barcola last summer, but decided against pursuing a deal to give first-team opportunities to youngster Rio Ngumoha.
The PSG star is naturally a left winger, but can play on the opposite flank. He has made 37 career appearances as a right winger, bagging seven goals and 15 assists.
Barcola could leave this summer in search of more game time, although the Champions League holders insist he is not for sale.
He has two years remaining on his contract, and negotiations over an extension are reportedly at a standstill. PSG could eventually soften their stance on Barcola.
They have already agreed personal terms with Monaco forward Maghnes Akliouche and could make a formal approach for Diomande.
PSG are poised to demand a substantial fee to sanction his departure. They reportedly value the Frenchman at more than the £116 million Manchester City paid for Elliot Anderson.
