Reds saw nine-figure bid for Ivorian winger rejected earlier this month
The RB Leipzig winger, who is currently representing the Ivory Coast at the World Cup, has been central to one of the key storylines of this transfer window as the Reds, now under the premiership of Andoni Iraola, scramble to replace the departing Mohamed Salah.
Diomande’s pace, vision and ability to play on either flank made him an appealing option for Liverpool.
They have long admired the winger, who tallied 20 goal contributions in 33 Bundesliga appearances last season, and reportedly saw a nine-figure bid for his services rejected earlier this month. Leipzig hope to net a fee of around €130million (£112m).

But as they looked to court the player, Liverpool faced competition from Paris Saint-Germain, to which they have now succumbed.
Per new reports in The Athletic, Diomande has chosen the back-to-back European champions as his next club should he decide to leave Leipzig this summer.
The 19-year-old is said to have been swooned by PSG chairman Nasser Al-Khelaifi’s project, and is keen to play under head coach Luis Enrique.
Diomande also feels he will have more opportunities to regularly compete for silverware should he move to the French capital.
Leipzig remain keen to keep Diomande in Germany, and are reportedly trying to tie him down to an improved contract. He would, however, become the club’s record sale should he depart.
PSG currently hold the Champions League after beating Arsenal in the final in May to successfully defend their title.
Diomande’s decision is an early blow to Iraola’s transfer planning, but the Spaniard has been proactive in the window, already adding another winger to his ranks with his countryman Victor Munoz.
