Liverpool have made big changes to the full-back department over the course of this transfer window.

We’ve seen Milos Kerkez and Jeremie Frimpong arrive - with the pair becoming the Anfield club’s successors to Andy Robertson and Trent Alexander-Arnold.

Alexander-Arnold, 26, decided to run down his contract and move to Real Madrid. Liverpool therefore have decided to replace the England man with Frimpong as well as academy graduate Conor Bradley.

And while Robbo has been demoted from first-choice left-back, he is expected to remain at the club until the end of his contract in 2026.

Tsimikas linked with Liverpool exit

The same could not be said about Kostas Tsimikas however with the Greek set to suffer from the arrival of Kerkez.

Tsimikas, 29, has been at Anfield since 2020 - joining from Olympiacos in a deal worth around £12m. But the left-back is going to find first-team football increasingly hard to come by with the Reds now possessing an overabundance of players in his position.

It’s highly likely that Tsimikas will leave before the transfer window closes on September 1. That’s provided a suitable offer is made - with Tsimikas expressing his preference to move back to Olympiacos in recent days.

But there are other options available for the defender - with Marseille named among the suitors for his signature.

Roma want Tsimikas on loan

And now another intriguing pathway has opened up with Roma opening talks with the Reds over a loan deal. That’s according to Gianluca Di Marzio, the Italian transfer supremo, who claims the situation will become more clear at the start of the week.

“The Giallorossi are looking for a deputy for Angelino, and the new name on Massara's list is Liverpool's Konstantinos Tsimikas,” his report reads.

“There have been contacts with the Reds regarding the loan arrival of the Greek full-back: the operation is not easy, but Roma are trying and at the beginning of next week we will have a clearer understanding of its feasibility.”

Tsimikas is under contract on Merseyside until 2027 and it remains to be seen if Liverpool will agree to a loan deal.
