A new era has begun at Liverpool under the leadership of highly-rated Spanish head coach Andoni Iraola. However, due to the World Cup, the Reds’ pre-season preparations will be slightly delayed.
That means that the Reds won’t have their first friendly until they face Sunderland on 25th July at Geodis Park in Nashville. However, Liverpool’s first Premier League game of the season will not be until 22nd August.
The pre-season fixtures will kick off with that clash with Sunderland on 25th July, in what is the first game of a short USA tour consisting of three games against other British clubs.
The second game of that short tour will be against the ambitious Championship outfit Wrexham on 29th at the historic Yankee Stadium in New York City. The Welsh club have become a media phenomenon since Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney became the club’s owners in 2021.
The last of the trilogy of matches will see Liverpool come up against Leeds United at another iconic USA sports venue, Soldier Field in Chicago.
Liverpool is, of course, one of the best-supported football clubs in the USA, with 62 official supporters’ clubs in 32 US states. According to the stats, they were believed to be the most-watched club in the Premier League in the 2024/25 season.
The games in different areas of the country offer a chance to catch a glimpse of their heroes in real life, rather than on television screens.

Liverpool ends their pre-season campaign with home games at the iconic Anfield. The first pre-season home game will be on 9th August against French side Monaco.
The pre-season programme finishes with a home game against Cesc Fabregas’ Como on 16th August, six days before the Reds kick off their Premier League campaign.
