Liverpool are in a period of transition.

Several Premier League title-winning heroes are going to leave when their contracts officially expire at the end of June.

Mohamed Salah has reached an agreement to rip up his £400k per week contract one year early. Andy Robertson meanwhile will be leaving Liverpool because the club declined to offer him a new deal.

All of the change will eventually be overseen by a new head coach since Richard Hughes opted to cut ties with Arne Slot.

Liverpool have since confirmed that yet ANOTHER member of Slot’s 2024/25 title-winning team will be leaving.

Liverpool can't reach agreement with Konate

Hughes was unable to come to terms with Ibrahima Konate over a new deal - meaning the 27-year-old walks out the door for nothing.

Konate told journalists only a few weeks ago that a deal was in sight - but the plug was pulled on negotiations. The financial gap proved to be too far for Konate and FSG to overcome.

And if the France international is to have his contract demands met he is going to have to do so away from Anfield.

Al-Ittihad make their move for Konate

One surprise package now making a move for Konate is Saudi Pro League giants Al-Ittihad. That’s according to a report in Fussball Transfers which claims the Saudi side are fighting it out with Paris Saint-Germain for Konate’s signature.

“Al Ittihad is waiting in the wings, with the Saudi Arabian club having placed the centre-back at the top of their defensive wish list,” the report reads.

“Whether Konaté would be tempted by a potential move remains to be seen.

“Paris Saint-Germain has also shown great interest in the 27-year-old Frenchman. In recent months, he has also been linked with Bayern Munich, Real Madrid, and Chelsea.”

Al-Ittihad have made space in the budget by dispensing with Karim Benzema and N’Golo Kante. That extra money was thought to be going towards signing Mohamed Salah but there are indications the Egyptian King may well choose Fenerbahce instead.
