Liverpool have reportedly put together a €100m plan to replace Virgil van Dijk. Another mega-signing is on the horizon.
Liverpool need to invest in their centre-backs - there's no real way around that. They did try to rebuild in the summer, of course, with money spent on Giovanni Leoni.
The teenager is one of the brightest prospects in world football, however he's also now injured for the rest of the season. It's an injury that really highlights the failed attempt to land Marc Guehi.
The Crystal Palace captain was supposed to join at the end of the window, strengthening Liverpool's options. Palace collapsed that deal at the last minute, though, leaving the Reds short.
They'll need to sign someone, then, but there's actually more to it. Ibrahima Konate, for instance, is out of contract in the summer and if he decides to leave, an elite player must arrive.

But that's not the big one. The big one is replacing Virgil van Dijk, who has under two years left on his contract and turns 35 next summer.
It sounds as though Liverpool are ready to spend big to replace him, though.
Mundo Deportivo are the latest to claim that Liverpool are ready to spend €100m to sign Alessandro Bastoni from Inter. The 26-year-old is one of the best centre-backs in world football.
Hence the price tag, really. Liverpool know that any player who's going to succeed Van Dijk must be one of the best and that's exactly who Bastoni is.
He'd be the long-term Van Dijk replacement. Someone ready to play alongside the Dutchman but also boasting the quality to take over as Liverpool's driving force at the back.
