Liverpool are reportedly ready to partner Mo Salah with one of the biggest talents in football right now. And that's something of a surprise.
Teamtalk reports that Liverpool are set on moving for RB Leipzig star Yan Diomande. This, of course, has been reported for a while but it seems the Reds really are all-in on the player.
Diomande is unquestionably one of the brightest prospects around right now. He's only been in senior football for a little over a year but his incredible efforts for Leganes last season earned a move to Leipzig.
The Ivorian hit the ground running and now he's one of the most sought-after wingers in the game. And Liverpool do need a winger.
The report here, though, suggests that Liverpool would sign Diomande regardless of whether Mo Salah stays or not. That's an interesting one, given the Egyptian is linked with an exit and the teenager feels like a replacement of sorts.
But it seems the Reds would be happy to partner the two, if it comes to that. Honestly, we hope it does.
Transfer Pursuit and Valuation
Liverpool are preparing an "early move" for the 19-year-old Ivorian to beat competition from Manchester United, Real Madrid, and Bayern Munich. While Diomande joined Leipzig for just €20 million from Leganés in July 2025, his valuation has skyrocketed. Reports indicate Leipzig must generate over €100 million (£86.5m) in player sales this summer, making Diomande a likely candidate for a record-breaking departure. Although he recently clarified that Liverpool is his "father’s dream club" rather than his own, he is reportedly aware of the interest and encouraged by the project under Arne Slot.
Season Breakout and Style
Diomande’s debut Bundesliga campaign has been historic. He has recorded 11 goals and 7 assists in 27 appearances, including a hat-trick against Eintracht Frankfurt that made him the second-youngest player to achieve the feat in league history. Statistically, he ranks as one of Europe’s elite dribblers, surpassed only by Lamine Yamal. Known for his explosive pace and ability to cut inside from either flank, he is viewed internally at Anfield as the long-term successor to Mohamed Salah.
