Liverpool have been working on a deal for months now. It’s one that could be secured shortly.
The transfer window is nearly upon us. Liverpool, of course, may as well focus on it entirely as they’re no longer competing for anything.
The Premier League title is wrapped up, the party is well underway and the club are now thinking about next season. Arne Slot voiced that quite clearly when he discussed wanting Conor Bradley to play ahead of Trent Alexander-Arnold for the remainder of the campaign.
But while that situation is clear (Alexander-Arnold will not be with the club next season, Bradley will be) there are others that are a lot less simple. Liverpool want to sign a striker this summer, for one, while there are transfer options at centre-back, left-back, right-back, midfield...
All of those options must be weighed up and analysed fully. Fortunately, it seems Liverpool have actually been working on these deals all season.
Including one that saw the first real steps made all the way back in December.
The Daily Mail reports that Jeremie Frimpong is keen on a transfer to Liverpool and that the Reds are looking into it. Looking into it with some real energy, too.
They claim that Liverpool first let Bayer Leverkusen know about their interest in Frimpong back in December last year. They didn’t push forward, of course, but things have accelerated now Alexander-Arnold has confirmed his decision to leave.
Liverpool, then, appear to truly have an interest in Frimpong. There’s a release clause there, too, meaning they know he’s available for around €35m.
Kicker in Germany claims this one is getting quite close, too. They suggest things have moved very well and that Frimpong is eager to complete things.
