Liverpool will want their 2026-27 season to get off to as good of a start as possible.

The Anfield outfit owe their fanbase an awful lot after what they put them through during the 2025-26 campaign.

By now, most fans thought that Liverpool would've had a bit more of a new-look team but, that certainly hasn't been the case.

Jeremy Jacquet and Victor Munoz are the only new players to have been brought in thus far and, even though Bradley Barcola may be at the top of their priority list, no concrete moves have been made by the Reds.

Of course, this is all for good reason as Paris Saint-Germain have shared that they want as much as €170 million for the Frenchman which, especially since he only has two years left on his deal, is an awful lot of money.

However, as well as not bringing many players in, hardly any have been moved on either with one of the Reds' men now wanted by a foreign club before the 2026-27 season fully gets underway.

Sevilla want to sign Stefan Bajcetic from Liverpool

Stefan Bajcetic's time at Liverpool has certainly been a mixed bag.

When Jurgen Klopp was the Reds' manager, the German actually said that the midfielder was a 'joy' to work with.

Klopp was the one who handed Bajcetic his Liverpool debut and, from that point on, every Liverpool fan thought that they'd found Fabinho's successor for years to come.

However, things didn't quite pan out that way with the midfielder spending the best part of two years side-lined due to injury.

Indeed, he did get a couple of loan spells with RB Salzburg and Las Palmas during the 2024-25 campaign but, upon his return to Anfield, something just wasn't quite right and he was kept out for the entire season.

But this term, he's expected to return during the Reds' pre-season tour with some fans even suggesting that he should be given a chance to challenge Ryan Gravenberch for a starting role.

And, since Andoni Iraola is treating every single player as if they're a new signing, that could easily become true.

However, a fresh report from Matteo Moretto via Vamos mi Sevilla FC has shared that different plans may lie ahead for the Spaniard.

"The roadmap for the defensive midfielder position is very clear on Sevilla's agenda," they wrote.

"According to transfer market specialist Matteo Moretto , the club isn't looking for a temporary fix, but rather a player with international experience who can act as a true playmaker and who currently plays outside of La Liga.

"An experienced profile: The international scene is being combed in search of an established organizer who can immediately assume leadership roles.

"Known alternatives: On the agenda have been Pablo Martínez , a free agent after leaving Levante UD , and the young Stefan Bajcetic , who is facing his last year at Liverpool FC.

"The 'secret' option: According to information obtained by VamosMiSevillaFC.com , the sporting management is working on a 'secret' signing, with negotiations kept under absolute secrecy, to definitively strengthen the Sevilla midfield."

Liverpool should only let Stefan Bajcetic go for a decent fee

Even though Liverpool may have other defensive-midfielders among their ranks, Bajcetic has already proven that he can hold his own in the Premier League.

Throughout his career, he's featured in 22 competitive games for the Reds with the vast majority of them (19) coming during the 2022-23 season.

Since then, he's hardly made a dent on Liverpool's first-team squad but, now that he's finally getting back to full fitness and should be a valid option for Liverpool to select, it feels silly for the Reds to let him go.

Indeed, the year that he has left on his current contract doesn't give the club much leeway in terms of negotiating a deal but, unless a decent fee is offered to the Reds, they may as well keep him and let him fight for his place at Anfield, rather than join seven-time Europa League winners, Sevilla.

The Spaniard is still only 21 years old so he has plenty of time to develop into an even better player than he already is and, the fact that he can be used as a right-back if needed could end up being very important for Liverpool.

Iraola certainly doesn't have a lot to lose by keeping the youngster around and, if Klopp was a massive fan of him, there's no reason why he isn't good enough to at least try out for one more season.
