Liverpool step up pursuit of £145m-rated PSG winger Bradley Barcola | OneFootball

Liverpool are poised to open negotiations with Paris St Germain regarding a potential move for winger Bradley Barcola.

The 23-year-old joined the perennial French champions from Lyon in 2023 for a reported €45 million (£38.6m) and has been a key figure in their back-to-back Champions League triumphs.

The Merseyside club is keen to bring Barcola to Anfield and is ready to step up their pursuit of the France international by initiating formal club-to-club talks with PSG.

While an eye-watering £145 million asking price has been reported in some quarters, manager Andoni Iraola’s Reds do not intend on meeting such a valuation for the player.

Barcola spent the summer representing France at the World Cup, where he scored three goals, including one in their chaotic 6-4 bronze medal defeat by England in Miami.

Meanwhile, Liverpool are currently in the United States for their pre-season tour. They recently secured a 4-2 victory against Sunderland in Nashville, followed by a 1-0 win over Wrexham in New York on Wednesday.

New signing Jeremy Jacquet is expected to make his debut in Sunday’s friendly against Leeds in Chicago, having linked up with the squad this summer after a £55m plus add-ons deal was struck with Rennes in February.

Victor Munoz, a member of Spain’s triumphant World Cup squad, has yet to join the group after signing for the Reds from Osasuna last month.

Liverpool are still looking to add to their squad with the new Premier League season just over three weeks away after losing a number of experienced players earlier this summer.

Mohamed Salah, Andy Robertson and Ibrahima Konate all left the club at the end of June following the end of their contracts.

Robertson has since joined Tottenham, while Konate has moved to Real Madrid. Salah is still yet to announce his next club.

Liverpool will begin their Premier League campaign away at Newcastle on 23 August. The Magpies are now looking for a new manager following the news on Thursday morning that Eddie Howe is set to leave the club after five years at St James’ Park.

Howe famously led Newcastle to their first domestic trophy in 70 years in 2025, as they won the Carabao Cup by beating Liverpool in the final.
