Liverpool may get an opportunity to cash in once again during the January transfer window - on a player that doesn’t even belong to them anymore.
Fabio Carvalho, 23, first left Liverpool in summer 2024 - joining fellow Premier League side Brentford in a permanent deal for around £27.5m including add-ons.
But the attacker - whose international allegiance has switched between England and Portugal - has found it difficult to break into Keith Andrews’ starting XI this season.
Although he started the opening game of the top-flight campaign - and scored in the 2-2 draw versus Chelsea - the versatile forward has recently had to settle for a place on the bench and precious few minutes when he does get on the pitch.
His situation has alerted several clubs to his potential availability according to a new report in TEAMtalk - which suggests he could be a target for teams in the Bundesliga.

While at Liverpool, Carvalho had an unsuccessful stint on loan at RB Leipzig but he could yet be returning to the German top flight.
“One of the most sought-after talents in European football, his performances have caught the attention of scouts from multiple European clubs, especially in the Bundesliga, with German clubs viewing Carvalho as a valuable addition to their squads,” the report reads.
So what’s this got to do with Liverpool?
Well, the club cleverly inserted a 17.5 percent sell-on clause when they did the deal with Brentford last year. That means Liverpool could be set for a bonus cash windfall if Carvalho goes.
Carvalho is under contract at the Gtech Community Stadium until 2029 - meaning the Bees are very well protected from a transfer fee perspective.
Overall he’s scored five goals and made three assists for the West London side - including two in seven appearances this term.
The forward first joined Liverpool from Fulham back in 2022 - following a stunning breakout campaign in the Championship for the Cottagers.
He immediately became a part of Jurgen Klopp’s first-team squad - playing 21 times for the Reds - before loan spells at Leipzig and Hull City.
That stint at the Tigers during the second half of the 2023/24 season was the making of Carvalho - scoring nine goals in 20 matches before returning to Liverpool.
He will soon get the opportunity to re-ignite his career - giving Liverpool a timely cash boost in the process.
