Liverpool's main sale of the transfer window needs to be Darwin Nunez.

His time at the club appears to be over and in order for a new striker to be signed, the Uruguayan needs to pack his bags, securing the Reds a transfer for us to use to purchase his successor.

Hopes of Napoli taking him off our hands were dashed when they couldn't meet the club's valuation of him. After all, we have to recoup as much money as possible after the £85m we paid for him.

As such, the ideal potential move for Liverpool is if a Saudi club approaches him, because the country's Public Investment Fund could put up a transfer fee which better reflects his value.

But the situation is complex since he will need to agree personal terms and he prefers to stay in Europe, since he is still just 26 years old. The latest report claims we still have options to consider.

Nunez is wanted in Europe and in the Middle East

According to Caught Offside, there are four clubs that are currently expressing interest in Nunez.

The 'strongest interest' is from Al Hilal and Al Nassr, with Barcelona and AC Milan also looking at him.

In their report, they claim: "LFC still look likely to part ways with Nunez as long as the money is right.

"It remains to be seen if Barca or Milan can afford the player, however, with neither club making formal approaches just yet. It will be interesting to see how this develops, but Said clubs probably seem the most likely to be able to meet Liverpool's demands, though it's not yet clear if Nunez himself wold go there, or favour a move to another European club."

As such, we remain in a state of flux because Liverpool and Nunez's interests need to both be met.
