Liverpool, under Andoni Iraola, are preparing a €25m bid for Almería attacking midfielder Sergio Arribas, who is also on Benfica’s shortlist.

According to Glorioso 1904, the 24-year-old Spanish international has become a priority for Iraola as he looks to strengthen the attack.

Almería’s play-off defeat to Málaga has opened the door for the former Real Madrid player to move, and he is unlikely to stay next season. He made 47 appearances across competitions in 2025/26.

Arribas scored 26 goals and provided seven assists over the campaign, attracting interest from clubs across Europe. A Premier League switch could gather pace in the coming weeks, while Benfica continue to monitor the situation.

Benfica have tracked him for several months and view him as a potential addition in attack. Strong relations between Benfica and Almería, strengthened by Darwin Núñez’s move to the Luz, could aid talks if Rui Costa’s club choose to proceed.

Even so, any deal is expected to be financially demanding. Almería want close to €30m for the player, who is also being followed by clubs in Spain and elsewhere in Europe.
