Liverpool begin their FA Cup campaign at home to Accrington Stanley on Saturday lunchtime.
Arne Slot’s side host the fourth-tier side at Anfield, in a third-round contest full of narrative.
Having shot to prominence with the help of that milk advert featuring two young Liverpool fans in the 1980s, Accrington now take on the Merseyside giants for just the second time. The only previous encounter between the teams saw Billy Lidell score twice in a 2-0 win for Liverpool in 1956.
Liverpool are aiming to bounce back from a midweek defeat at Tottenham in the first leg of their Carabao Cup semi-final, just the second loss of the campaign for the Reds.
Accrington sit 19th in League Two but have secured important wins over Grimsby and Colchester in their last two outings.
Arne Slot has confirmed that Dominik Szoboszlai is in contention after training with the u-21 side this week. The Hungarian has missed Liverpool’s last two fixtures through illness. Jarell Quansah is also expected to be available after his withdrawal at Spurs in midweek.
Slot is likely to make wholesale changes to his team and could hand much-needed minutes to the likes of Federico Chiesa, Harvey Elliott, Diogo Jota and Darwin Nunez.
Liverpool predicted XI: Kelleher; Bradley, Konate, Quansah, Robertson; Nyoni, Endo, Szoboszlai; Chiesa, Elliott, Nunez.
Liverpool host Accrington Stanley in the FA Cup’s third round on Saturday 11th January 2025. Kick-off at Anfield is 12:15pm GMT.
Accrington’s trip to Liverpool will be broadcast on ITV1, ITVX, STV and STV Player.
