Liverpool take on Burnley in the Premier League at Anfield on Saturday afternoon, with the defending champions aiming to return to winning ways in the competition.
The Reds were held to a 2-2 draw by Fulham at Craven Cottage on the last matchday. Burnley recorded the same result against Manchester United at Turf Moor.
Liverpool have failed to win any of their last three league matches, missing the opportunity to strengthen their grip on fourth place.
The Reds’ 4-1 victory over Barnsley in the FA Cup extended their unbeaten run to 11 matches across all competitions. Yet, performances remain unconvincing.
Liverpool have struggled to impose tempo, and are lacking creativity in the final third. They have also struggled to keep it tight at the back.
Burnley sit 19th and are eight points adrift of safety. They have not won a league game since the 3-2 victory at Wolverhampton Wanderers in October.
The Clarets showed resilience against Arne Slot’s side in the reverse fixture. However, their hard work was undone by Mohamed Salah’s stoppage-time penalty.
The visitors are expected to sit deep, knowing it nearly earned them a point last time and that the hosts have struggled against low-block teams this season.
Liverpool have faced Burnley nine times at Anfield in the Premier League era, winning six, drawing two, and losing one.
Liverpool remain without Giovanni Leoni, Alexander Isak, and Conor Bradley due to injury. Salah is also still away at AFCON.
Zian Flemming and Joe Worrall are doubtful for Burnley. Connor Roberts, Jordan Beyer, Josh Cullen, and Zeki Amdouni are injured.
Liverpool (4-2-3-1): Alisson, Jeremie Frimpong, Ibrahima Konate, Virgil van Dijk, Milos Kerkez, Ryan Gravenberch, Alexis McAllister, Florian Wirtz, Cody Gakpo, Dominic Szoboszlai, Hugo Ekitike.
Burnley (3-4-2-1): Martin Dubravka, Axel Tuanzebe, Maxime Esteve, Josh Laurent, Lucas Pires, Lesley Ugochukwu, Florentino, Kyle Walker, Marcus Edwards, Lyle Foster, Adam Broja.
We predict a 2-0 Liverpool win.
