It was reported earlier this week that Liverpool had cooled their interest in long-standing midfield target Joao Gomes of Wolves.
Having moved to the Premier League side from Flamengo in 2023 the Brazil international has established himself as a key fixture in the lineup.
But it looks like the Reds are content to let this opportunity slide - with Manchester United instead primed to take over the chase.
Richard Hughes still has an eye on Wolves though - and there is another Brazil midfielder on his agenda.
Andre, 24, joined Wolves back in 2024 on a deal from Fluminense. He helped his boyhood club to the Copa Libertadores title in 2023 and has also become a feature in the main Brazil squad ahead of the FIFA World Cup.

RTI Esporte in Brazil is now reporting that Liverpool are leading the chase for Andre ahead of Wolves’ expected relegation from the Premier League at the end of this season.
“Liverpool have already shown interest in the player and continue to monitor André’s performances and statistics,” the report reads.
“Regardless of Wolverhampton’s relegation, Liverpool intend to submit an official bid for the player.”
Under contract until 2029 it is believed a bid of £26m could bring Wolves to the table - although it is mentioned that a good performance at the World Cup could help his employers drive up the price.
Andre is also of interest to Palmeiras in his homeland - with it being acknowledged that the cost of deal could be prohibitive. Other teams in England - as well as Italy, France and Turkey - are also mentioned as suitors for the 13-times capped Selecao international.
Andre - who excels at winning the ball back in midfield - was particularly impressive in the recent Premier League clash between the Reds and Wolves at Anfield.
With Liverpool requiring changes to the midfield owing to a lack of numbers and a heavy strain on their current options Andre could be the man to make the difference.
One thing to consider is Wolves’ stance over what a potential World Cup breakout would do for Andre’s price tag.
Liverpool do not want to get embroiled in a bidding war - and so launching a January bid rather than waiting for post-tournament inflation to kick in might be the best way to go.
