It woud appear the writing is on the wall for Mohamed Salah’s Liverpool career.
The Egyptian King signed a two-year contract extension in 2024 - a deal which should see him remain a Red until 2027.
But there are indications that the 33-year-old will be LEAVING the club one year ahead of schedule - either in this January transfer window or else next summer.
Salah earns £400k per week and this season it’s fair to say the Premier League champions haven’t seen much return on their investment.
Despite the legendary forward’s declining output there will still be a huge market for his signature.
Saudi Arabia’s Pro League beckons with several top clubs in the Middle East ready to offer eye-watering sums to Salah in order to become the face of the league.
And if the winger leaves it will leave a gap in the squad that needs to be filled. Arne Slot has been muddling along without Salah in recent weeks - with wing-back Jeremie Frimpong coming to the fore.
But Liverpool will soon require a blockbuster talent to come on board and lead them forward into the next generation. Reports in the Spanish media suggest that Reds recruiters have decided on Roony Bardghji as Salah’s long-term replacement.
The Swedish wonderkid joined Barcelona in a bargain £2m deal last summer from FC Copenhagen - a move seen in some parts as a risk owing to his recovery from a serious knee injury.
It’s taken the 20-year-old a while to fit in at Camp Nou -with Hansi Flick possessing a wealth of talent up front. But Bardghji took a decisive step forward this week with a stunning performance in the Spanish Super Cup semi-finals against Athletic Club.
And now it seems that the Catalans are ready to cut a deal for their new signing - with Fichajes stating that the Spanish champions are ready to accept £43m for him.
The left-footer scored once and provided two assists against Athletic - starting in place of Lamine Yamal on the right side of the attack.
His profile would no doubt fit at Anfield - with the club’s recruitment staff reported to have taken a look when he was still at Copenhagen.
Bardghji will find consistent first-team football hard to come by in the long term at Barca and it seems logical that they would flip him for a profit.
Liverpool would be glad to receive a player of Bardghji’s calibre and finally answer the question of which player will come to replace Mo Salah.
