Liverpool want deal for sensational teenage goalkeeper | OneFootball

Liverpool have developed a reputation as one of the finest finishing schools for young British and Irish talents.

There is now a well-established pathway for top young prospects who get picked up for the Liverpool academy sides.

Rio Ngumoha, 17, is now a fully-fledged member of the first-team squad - with a professional contract to boot - following his controversial move from Chelsea in 2024.

Trey Nyoni’s progress has also been steady since swapping Leicester City for the AXA Training Centre in 2023. Plenty more talents are in and around the first-team picture - or else have enjoyed spells on loan - after moving into the Liverpool underage structures.

James McConnell and Luca Stephenson for example should go on and play many senior games either for Liverpool or at another team if they cannot make the decisive breakthrough.

And the process never really stops - with Liverpool casting the net wide for the best up-and-coming players around.

Liverpool watching Zach Trinder

A report in the Daily Mail now claims that Liverpool are keeping a watching brief on the Wolverhampton Wanderers’ goalkeeping prodigy Zach Trinder.

“They have also kept a watching brief on highly-rated Wolves goalkeeper Zach Trinder, who has played for England's age-group teams,” the report reads.

Trinder stars against Liverpool

Trinder made his Premier League 2 debut against the Reds back in March aged only 14 and 72 days - keeping a clean sheet in a Wolves victory.

He began the 2025/26 season with the Wolves U15s but his talents could not be contained at that level - graduating to feature for the U16 side at the start of the calendar year.

His progress continued unchecked with multiple appearances on the Wolves PL2 bench at U18 level before getting his first minutes against Liverpool in March.
