Frenkie de Jong’s future at Barcelona remains uncertain as he enters the final year of his contract. Several European clubs have shown interest, with one Premier League side reportedly making him a top target.
Last October, SPORT reported that Manchester United, Chelsea, Bayern Munich, and Paris Saint-Germain were all monitoring De Jong’s situation.
Although de Jong has made it clear he wants to stay at Barcelona, PSG’s track record of signing players from the club makes them a strong contender. However, Barcelona appears open to a sale, with Mundo Deportivo highlighting that their financial troubles have pushed a new contract down the priority list.
More recently, CaughtOffside revealed that Liverpool have added De Jong to their list of summer targets. However, his wages could pose a hurdle.
Barcelona are reportedly willing to sell De Jong for around €35 million, but his high salary has raised concerns for Liverpool and other interested clubs.

Fichajes reports Liverpool have made a strong move to strengthen their midfield, targeting De Jong. The club is preparing a €40 million offer to convince Barcelona to part ways with the Dutch midfielder, who still has a contract until 2026. De Jong is a key figure as Arne Slot continues to shape the squad in his image.
The report claims Barcelona are open to listening to offers, particularly if the financial terms are right. Despite De Jong’s importance to the squad, the club’s financial struggles may force them to consider significant transfers.
While Liverpool aren’t the only club interested—Arsenal and Manchester City are also monitoring the situation—the arrival of a new manager and the need to strengthen their midfield could give the Reds an edge, per the report.
