Liverpool have been boosted by the fitness of Virgil van Dijk, who has returned to training following illness and will captain the Reds at Wembley.

Alisson Becker is back in the Liverpool squad after missing the pre-season tour of Asia due to personal reasons, and he is vying with Giorgi Mamardashvili to start in goal.

Jeremie Frimpong is set to start at right-back, with Conor Bradley a fitness doubt.

Ryan Gravenberch is available, with his suspension for his red card against Palace on the final day last season to be served against Bournemouth in the Premier League next week.

Alexis Mac Allister is available but the midfielder is not yet ready to play 90 minutes.

“[Mac Allister] will be in the squad,” said Arne Slot. “He was out for two months I think, or longer because we didn’t play him in the last four games of the season. He trained with us since a week now, played 30 minutes, 45 minutes.

Joe Gomez is not yet ready to return from injury, though Slot has said he should be back with the team “very soon.
