The Premier League champions flattered to deceive against Sunderland in midweek, scraping a 1-1 draw at Anfield after they had fallen behind to Chemsdine Talbi’s goal.

For the second game running, Mohamed Salah found himself on the bench, although Arne Slot introduced the forward at half-time to give the hosts a spark.

Indeed he did, but the Reds still found themselves a goal down when Talbi’s strike arrowed into the corner beyond Alisson.

Florian Wirtz slalomed between bodies and into the penalty area as he opened up a shooting opportunity, and his effort deflected in off Nordi Mukiele to snatch a point for the Merseysiders.

Their performance against the Black Cats was poor, and Slot may think about changing things around once more with his starting XI.

Alisson, obviously, will continue in net, while there is no real alternative for Ibrahima Konate alongside Virgil van Dijk, with Joe Gomez hauled off in the second half after he picked up a silly yellow card from right-back.

Bradley’s return will come as a huge boost, with Liverpool needing a natural right-back. Curtis Jones made an impact off the bench there against Sunderland, making the crucial interception before feeding Wirtz.

At left-back, it is a coin-toss between Andy Robertson and Milos Kerkez.

In the engine room, Dominik Szoboszlai could be shifted back infield off the right flank should Salah slot back in, after Alexis Mac Allister did not have his best game on Wednesday.

Alexander Isak was starved of quality service too, and there is potential for him to drop out in favour of Hugo Ekitike.

Predicted Liverpool XI (4-2-3-1): Alisson; Bradley, Konate, van Dijk, Kerkez; Gravenberch, Szoboszlai; Salah, Wirtz, Gakpo, Isak

Injured: Frimpong, Leoni
