Arne Slot facing big selection decision for trip to Stadium of Light

Arne Slot faces a big decision over who to start at right-back when Liverpool play Sunderland.

Joe Gomez remains a fitness doubt, with Curtis Jones and Wataru Endo other options for Slot.

Asked whether Gomez could return after missing the last three games, Slot said on Tuesday: “You never know.

“Joe has not trained with us yet. I'm expecting him to train with us for the first time today. If Joe is not ready to start then we are missing four players who have played in that position.

"But Curtis and Wata also played in that position this year, so we've had six different right full-backs this season.”

Andrew Robertson is an option come in for Milos Kerkez at left-back but the lack of available options means there are unlikely to be changes further forward.

If Jones is not used at right-back, he could come into midfield but Ryan Gravenberch and Alexis Mac Allister are likely to start behind Florian Wirtz.

Hugo Ekitike will lead the line at the Stadium of Light.

Conor Bradley, Giovanni Leoni and Alexander Isak remain long-term absentees.
