Liverpool’s summer business continues at pace, and this time the flight path cuts through Belgrade. Milos Kerkez, the 21-year-old Hungarian full-back, is en route to the UK to undergo a medical ahead of his move from Bournemouth to Anfield. The deal, reportedly worth £40 million, edges towards completion, with an announcement expected Tuesday, according to The Athletic.

“He’s flying back from Serbia,” one source close to the move confirmed. “Everything’s on track.”
Should all go to plan, Kerkez will become Liverpool’s fourth summer signing. He joins Armin Pecsi, Jeremie Frimpong and Florian Wirtz, offering further evidence of a club unafraid to reshape the squad with youth and energy.
Kerkez’s numbers speak volumes. Starting every Premier League game last season for Bournemouth, he notched six goals and two assists — exceptional output for a left-back in a mid-table side.

Signed by Bournemouth from AZ for £15.5 million in 2023, he has already repaid that fee and more, drawing admiration across the division for his athleticism and attacking ambition.
With 23 senior caps for Hungary, Kerkez brings international pedigree, positional discipline and — crucially — the willingness to overlap and create width in high-tempo games.
Bournemouth, aware of Kerkez’s trajectory, have already moved to fill the void. Adrien Truffert from Rennes has signed, while Julio Soler, an Argentine under-23 international, adds depth.
Liverpool, meanwhile, continue their summer reset with precision.
Liverpool fans have been asking for real intent in the transfer market, and this ticks every box. Milos Kerkez may not be the flashiest name, but this signing screams logic. Young, proven in the league, already experienced at international level, and with a motor that fits perfectly into Arne Slot’s pressing demands — what’s not to be excited about?
Six goals and two assists from left-back in a Bournemouth shirt? That’s a player making things happen, not just coasting through games. The fact he played every Premier League match last season is a testament to his resilience, and that kind of dependability is gold for a side playing across four competitions.
The fee? £40 million sounds steep until you realise what full-backs cost in the current market. Add in his age, upside and compatibility with Slot’s system, and it starts to look like a shrewd long-term investment.
There’s something refreshing about this summer’s activity. No overhyped PR stunts, no “marquee” names just for the sake of it. Instead, Liverpool are acting like a club with a plan. And Kerkez, with that mixture of bite and brilliance, could become a key piece of it.
