Corinthians have ruled out using Hugo Souza and André Carrillo against Fluminense at the Maracanã on one April, citing logistics around the Fifa window, according to Globo.com.

Brazil play Croatia in the United States one day before that fixture. On the same day, Peru face Honduras in a friendly in Spain.

The club considered chartering two planes to retrieve the pair, but shelved the plan. Cost and concerns over fatigue were key factors.

Hugo Souza is likely to be among the substitutes, as the second-choice goalkeeper in Carlo Ancelotti’s team. Even so, an almost nine hour journey from Orlando to Rio de Janeiro was judged harmful to his performance.

Carrillo may start for Peru in Spain. Beyond travel and wear, he has recently dealt with physical issues, managed training loads and been withdrawn before full time.

As it stands, Corinthians expect at least five absentees for Fluminense, Memphis Depay injured, Raniele suspended, Hugo injured, plus Hugo Souza and Carrillo on international duty.

Corinthians sit on 10 points in the Campeonato Brasileiro, are without a win in seven, and face mounting pressure. Coach Dorival Júnior is seeking options within his squad to arrest the slide.
