Sevilla have confirmed Arouna Sangante as their latest signing, the 24-year-old centre-back arriving on a free after leaving Le Havre. His announcement followed those of Juan Iglesias and Jon Guridi, and has drawn praise from former team-mate Loïc Badé.
Badé, now at Bayer Leverkusen and formerly of Sevilla, shared a welcome in Spanish. The club posted his message on its social channels.
He congratulated Sangante, encouraged him to learn Spanish quickly and said he would enjoy the city and a huge club with outstanding supporters, calling the move the best option for him.
The pair were together across 2022/23, when Le Havre won Ligue 2 and promotion to Ligue 1. Badé made 34 appearances that season, while Sangante was among the most used centre-backs.
Sangante is regarded as a high-impact, mature and aggressive defender, effective in tackles and active regains in open spaces. He captained Le Havre at a young age, but channelling his rugged edge in LaLiga will be important.
He received four red cards in five months in France, where refereeing allows more physical contact than in Spain. Calibrating that intensity will be a priority for Luis García Plaza’s staff.
