Lorient beat Lens 2-1 with centre-back Montassar Talbi outstanding, while Abdallah Sima and the visitors’ attack were subdued.
L'Équipe notes Talbi’s command and Sima’s struggles. Lorient are unbeaten in their last 11 Ligue 1 home matches.
Talbi supplied Bamba Dieng for the opener and cut out numerous attacks. Before the break, Yvon Mvogo produced two fine saves, including from Florian Thauvin in the 34th minute.
Soon after half-time, Mamadou Sangaré intercepted in the build-up and Odsonne Édouard levelled in the 49th minute. Mvogo could do nothing about the strike.
Substitute Aiyegun Tosin then needed only 44 seconds on the pitch to score the winner, a dream entrance.
Sima worked but made no impact, often misplacing simple passes or running into cul-de-sacs. Nidal Celik looked stretched in his duels, which did not always help Ismaëlo Ganiou, and Dermane Karim’s explosiveness troubled him.
Malang Sarr endured a below-par outing, caught on the first goal, even if he might have been impeded, though his long passing helped. Captain for the day, Talbi dominated in the air, winning six of eight aerial duels, and Mvogo stayed assured. Noah Cadiou lost the ball before Lens’s goal and was slow in his distribution under the press.
