Lorran makes first-team return after more than a year as Flamengo weigh next step | OneFootball

Lorran featured in the second half of Flamengo’s friendly with River Plate in Portugal, his first senior outing in more than a year. According to Globo.com, it could be a final chance to persuade the club to keep him in the squad.

His previous first-team appearance came on 21 May 2025, in the Copa do Brasil win over Botafogo-PB. Then impressing for the under-20s, he was recalled by Filipe Luís amid absences, and later made two benches without playing.

In September he joined Pisa on loan in Italy. The attacking midfielder made 10 appearances, only one start, scoring on his debut before seeing limited minutes thereafter.

Under contract until 2029, he still qualifies for the under-20s. Flamengo’s current priority is another loan, preferably in Europe, to build experience. Strong performances and convincing Leonardo Jardim on and off the pitch could yet alter that plan.

The decision rests with Jardim, who is using the Algarve camp to assess academy prospects. He aims to determine who stays with the seniors, who returns to the under-20s, and who is earmarked for loans.

Jardim said players such as Lorran and Rayan must prove their competence to earn places, rather than rely on a coach’s faith. He added the staff have opened the door by bringing them and giving them minutes, but expect on-pitch competence to fit the club’s projects.
