Lucas Bergvall has addressed his future, stressing he wants to play regularly, with Nottingham Forest among the clubs tracking the Tottenham Hotspur midfielder. Strengthening midfield is a priority for Forest after England international Elliot Anderson’s £116 million move to Manchester City this week.
"I want continuous matches in my position. That is the only goal. We’ll see what happens in the future. I’ve only been focused on the World Cup until now," he told Aftonbladet.
He was speaking in the capital after starting Sweden’s 3-0 World Cup round of 32 defeat to France earlier this week.
Bergvall is said to have informed Spurs of a wish to leave this summer to secure more game time. In recent days it has been reported Tottenham have made clear the 20-year-old is not for sale.
Competition for minutes at Spurs has increased, with Mateus Fernandes and Sandro Tonali added to Roberto De Zerbi’s squad. Since De Zerbi took charge in March, Bergvall has made one start and played 112 minutes.
He is under contract until 2031, and interest is not limited to Forest, with Aston Villa, Chelsea and Bayern Munich also admirers. Forest continue to weigh midfield options, with Inter Milan’s Davide Frattesi and Celtic’s Arne Engels still of interest after failed winter moves.
