Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Lucas Bergvall is attracting interest from Premier League rivals after informing the club of his desire to leave this summer.
The 20-year-old started only 11 games in thePremier League last season, and just once following the appointment of Roberto De Zerbi on March 31st.
After starting the defeat to Sunderland in De Zerbi's first game, Bergvall played only 54 minutes across various substitute appearances during the run-in.
A difficult second season followed what had been an encouraging first campaign for Bergvall in North London. The Swedish midfielder was named Tottenham Hotspur Official Supporters' Club Player of the Season in 2024/25, as Spurs won the Europa League under Ange Postecoglou.
He is currently with Sweden at the World Cup, and will assess his future after the tournament. The Athletic are reporting that Bergvall has told Spurs that he wishes to leave, with Nottingham Forest among those open to a deal.
Forest view Bergvall as a potential replacement for Elliot Anderson, who is subject of interest from Manchester City. The Cityzens have had an opening offer of around £106m turned down for the England international.
Tottenham also received enquires for Bergvall fromAston Villa and Chelsea in the January transfer window. Though neither side is focused on primarily central midfield additions this summer, Bergvall's desire to leave Spurs could see that interest renewed.
Tottenham beat stiff competition from leading European sides, including Barcelona, to sign Bergvall from from Swedish side Djurgarden in 2024. He has made 78 appearances across all competitions for the club.
