Lucas Moura is set to mark a significant milestone in his career by returning to the pitch for São Paulo just as he celebrates 15 years in professional football, according to Arquibancada Tricolor. After a lengthy spell on the sidelines with a posterior capsule strain in his right knee, Lucas trained with the squad and will be available for this weekend’s Brasileirão clash against Vitória at MorumBIS.

Reflecting on his journey and the fast passage of time, Lucas recalled making his first-team debut for São Paulo at 17. “Fifteen years later, I’m here, full of joy. The joy of defending São Paulo, of playing football, is still the same,” he told SPFC Play. Naturally, his impending return carries extra meaning: "There’s no better gift to celebrate this date than being able to do what I love and represent São Paulo again," he admitted.

Lucas did not shy away from discussing the challenges of his recovery, calling this injury layoff "one of the greatest challenges of my career." He expressed gratitude for the support received: “It’s not easy to be away. It’s very hard not to be on the pitch to help. Now I’m back, and I’m very happy.” He thanked his family, teammates, and São Paulo’s medical staff for helping him through this difficult period.

With São Paulo entering a pivotal moment in the campaign and riding a good run of form, Lucas is eager to contribute. “The team is improving each week. I want to help, add to the group, and keep this positive sequence going as we approach the decisive phases,” he said.

In a message to fans, Lucas looked ahead to his comeback match: “The moment has come, it’s time for my return," he said, inviting supporters to pack MorumBIS once more. "I hope the stadium is full, with you supporting us as always. Let’s go together. São Paulo is a feeling!”

After months of rehab, Lucas’s return on Saturday at 6:30 p.m. (Brasília time) renews São Paulo’s attacking options while allowing him to personally celebrate 15 years at the top. His presence and experience could prove crucial as Hernán Crespo’s squad enters the business end of the domestic season.
