Lucas Paquetá urges applause for Gonzalo Plata in Flamengo’s 3-1 win over Santos | OneFootball

Lucas Paquetá asked Flamengo fans to applaud Gonzalo Plata after the forward set up the third goal in a 3-1 win over Santos in the 10th round of the Brasileirão on Sunday.

According to Coluna Do Fla, Paquetá gestured towards the stands and pointed to the No 19 during the celebrations.

At 43 minutes of the second half, moments after coming on, Plata collected on the right, cut inside and found Paquetá, who blasted in from outside the box for Flamengo’s third.

Plata is in an uncertain spell at Flamengo. He has not secured a sustained run under Leonardo Jardim and has been involved in off-field matters that bothered officials and supporters.

He also removed photos of himself in a Flamengo shirt from his social media, leaving only images with the Libertadores trophy, then unfollowed the club.

Club president Luiz Eduardo Baptista said Flamengo have no intention to negotiate a transfer for the forward, adding that football staff are handling the situation, speaking at the launch event for the documentary Zico: o Samurai de Quintino.

While with Ecuador during the last international window, Plata said being around his team-mates helped him forget the noise around his club situation and that he felt very happy.
