Luis Diaz put Bayern Munich ahead at Real Madrid in the Champions League quarter-final first leg on Tuesday night.
L'Équipe notes Bayern showed greater technical and collective control in the first half at the Santiago-Bernabeu.
The breakthrough came in the 41st minute after a Vinicius clearance was deflected by a Bayern player, allowing Serge Gnabry to collect and thread Diaz through the middle, behind Trent Alexander-Arnold. The Colombia international finished with his right foot under Ukrainian goalkeeper Andreï Lounine, the injured Thibaut Courtois’s stand-in.
It was Diaz’s fifth goal in eight Champions League matches this season, alongside three assists.
Harry Kane doubled the lead just after the interval, picked out smartly by Michael Olise.
