Today, the entire Nación Rojiblanca is celebrating. On this day in 1995, our captain, Luis Romo, was born. He now celebrates his 31st birthday as one of the key figures in Gabriel Milito’s Guadalajara and as a Mexican National Team player preparing for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, which is set to be the second World Cup appearance of his career.
Born in Los Mochis, Sinaloa, Romo arrived at Chivas as a marquee signing ahead of Apertura 2025. Since then, he has earned a special place both on and off the field thanks to his personality, experience, and footballing quality.
Since joining Guadalajara, Luis Romo has proven to be much more than a player with an impressive résumé. His ability to understand the game and adapt to different roles on the pitch has made him an invaluable asset to the team. Throughout his time as a Rojiblanco, he has performed as a midfielder, libero, and center back, always providing organization, balance, and leadership.
In addition to protecting the defensive zone, Romo stands out for his composure when building attacks, his ability to break lines with his passing, and his role in maintaining the team’s rhythm. It is no coincidence that he has become one of the most influential players within the Rojiblanco system.
A Role Model for the Next Generation
However, his contribution extends far beyond what happens during the 90 minutes of a match. In a squad featuring many homegrown players, Luis Romo has embraced an important role as a mentor for younger generations. His professionalism, experience, and daily commitment have made him an example for young footballers looking to earn their place in the First Team, while his leadership in the locker room continues to strengthen the group’s competitive identity.
On the Road to Another World Cup
The excellent form he is enjoying has also been rewarded at the international level. Thanks to his consistency and performances, Romo remains a regular presence in the Mexican National Team setup ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup, recognition of both his career achievements and the level he has maintained in recent years.
Today, Luis Romo celebrates much more than another birthday. He celebrates a present built on hard work, discipline, and commitment—values that have made him one of the pillars of Guadalajara and a true leader for the Nación Rojiblanca.
That is why, on this special day, the entire Rebaño Sagrado wishes him one thing:
Happy Birthday, Romo!
