Luiz Araújo likely to miss Flamengo v Sampaio Corrêa with right thigh issue | OneFootball

Luiz Araújo was unavailable for Flamengo against Internacional and is likely to remain out for the Sampaio Corrêa fixture due to a right thigh issue, according to Coluna Do Fla.

Filipe Luís could rotate his side for Saturday’s Campeonato Carioca tie, but the winger has barely featured this year and is expected to sit out again.

The report says tests detected a physical problem, and because of the muscle pain in his right thigh, Filipe Luís called up Wallace Yan, who is close to joining Bragantino, to the bench on Wednesday.

Araújo has logged just over 100 minutes in 2026. He played the final 19 minutes of the win over Vasco, then completed the defeat to Fluminense. He was not listed for the Brasileirão opener against São Paulo, was on the bench for the Supercopa against Corinthians, and did not even make the bench against Inter.

If he is ruled out again, Flamengo still have options in the role, including Lucas Paquetá, Gonzalo Plata, Carrascal, Everton Cebolinha and Bruno Henrique. Any selection call is expected only minutes before kick-off.

Flamengo return at 21h, Brasília time, on Saturday in the sixth and final round of the Taça Guanabara.
