Luka Vuskovic joins Brighton from Tottenham | OneFootball

Brighton & Hove Albion have announced the arrival of defender Luka Vuskovic who has signed a five-year contract with the club.

The Croatian joins the club from Tottenham Hotspur for a reported £50 million despite never having played a single game for the North London side.

Indeed, the 19-year-old spent the last season on loan in Germany with Hamburger SV where he played 30 games in all competitions, chipping in with six goals from defence.

"Luka has enjoyed a fantastic start to his career, it’s one we’ve followed closely," Brighton boss Fabian Hürzeler said about the move.

"Last season he demonstrated he can play at a very high level and we want to help him build on that within our environment.

"There’s been a lot of external noise about Luka joining us, but he is still a young guy who will need time to adjust to the demands of playing for Brighton and the Premier League. We are confident that he will take this in his stride though."

Vuskovic is the third central defender to be signed by Brighton this summer following the arrivals of Pascal Struijk and Michael Svoboda.
