Birmingham City have a new First Team Positional Lead Scout, as Lukas Jutkiewicz has been confirmed to take on the role following his retirement at the end of the 2024/25 season.
The Birmingham legend made 358 appearances and scored 69 goals at the club, and both the club and its fanbase will be happy to hear that the popular frontman won't be departing the team just yet.
His new role sees him join the club's recruitment department, with a primary focus on scouting potential attacking talent for the club. Given his goalscoring antics at St Andrew's, that shouldn't be too much of an issue for him.
Birmingham City have ensured that Lukas Jutkiewicz will remain with the club, despite his on-field retirement, as the 36-year-old has been confirmed as Chris Davies' new positional lead scout in the attacking department.
Director of Football, Craig Gardner, who also spent the majority of his playing career at St Andrew's, has expressed his gratification at seeing someone as well-regarded as Jutkiewicz join the coaching staff.
He said, "We're delighted that Lukas is joining our recruitment team. It's a department which has undergone a drastic transformation over the past two years, and he will form a key role in enhancing our attacking player acquisition."
'The Juke' will be tasked with using a hybrid approach to scouting, combining data, video and real-world reporting to create in-depth backgrounds of attacking players and updating shortlists for Davies to sign them from.
Gardner continued: "As part of our strategy, our people at Birmingham City are very important to what we are creating.
"Lukas knows the DNA of the club, he understands the fans and the city, so I am certain he will be a huge success and prove to be an important asset for the years ahead."
After having a few months to get to grips with his playing career ending, Lukas Jutkiewicz is embarking on a new role at the club where he spent nine years.
He told the club: "Now that my playing career has come to a close, I'm excited to begin a new chapter.
"I look forward to applying the knowledge and experience I've gained over my 20-year playing career in a different capacity, and I will bring the same commitment and passion to this new role as I did on the pitch.
"It's an honour to be asked to help this great club move forward into what is undoubtedly a bright and exciting future."
As the 36-year-old said, the future at St Andrew's is looking incredibly exciting, and it may not be long before Jutkiewicz can say he is a scout at a Premier League club.
