Lyon discover all potential Champions League third qualifying round opponents | OneFootball

Lyon now know every potential opponent for the Champions League third qualifying round.

According to Le Progres, OL could face Union Saint-Gilloise, Sparta Prague or NEC Nijmegen. The remaining slot will be taken by Sturm Graz, or by one of their second-round opponents, Hearts of Midlothian or Gornik Zabrze.

The draw takes place on 20 July. First legs are set for 4 or 5 August, with the return on 11.

Aston Villa finished fourth in the Premier League and also won the Europa League against Freiburg, opening a direct league-phase berth for Sporting Lisbon. That change elevates Lyon to top seed for the third qualifying round.

The top four seeds are Lyon, Bodo/Glimt, Olympiakos and Fenerbahçe of Türkiye.

If OL progress, they cannot face Bodo/Glimt in the play-off. Their opponents there would be either Olympiakos or Fenerbahçe, provided those clubs also advance.

If they are eliminated, Lyon will drop into the Europa League.
