Lyon’s Tanner Tessmann unlikely to make Mauricio Pochettino’s USMNT World Cup squad | OneFootball

Olympique Lyonnais’ Tanner Tessmann (24) is not expected to feature in Mauricio Pochettino’s squad for the World Cup with the USMNT this summer, according to The Guardian.

Having suffered a muscle strain ahead of OL’s away match against Toulouse FC (2-1) two weeks ago, the midfielder missed the last two Ligue 1 fixtures of the season. However, there is currently no indication that his omission from Pochettino’s squad – which the former Tottenham Hotspur manager is set to announce on Tuesday – is linked to this injury.

In any case, this is a huge blow for the 24-year-old, who has 14 caps (one goal) to his name and was part of the US squad for their last gathering in March.

Having made 41 appearances for Les Gones (including 28 as a starter) in all competitions, Tessmann has scored two goals this season, including one in the Europa League and the winner against Angers SCO.
