Corinthians drew 1-1 with Carlos Barbosa in their Super Copa Gramado opener at Ginásio Perinão on Thursday night, as right winger Maicon claimed the club’s first goal of the season.

Meu Timao notes the No 31 is pushing to take on a bigger role in 2026. He finished 2025 as the squad’s third top scorer with 21, behind Lucas Martins on 22 and Deives with 25, the latter retiring at season’s end.

Maicon joined from Clube Esportivo da Penha at youth level, breaking into the senior side in 2023 with five appearances and three goals. In 2024 he was fully promoted, playing 40 games and scoring 15.

Last season he added nine assists to his 21 goals in 46 outings, and lifted his first senior trophies. Those were the Taça São Paulo and Spain’s Torneo Mucho Más, against clubs in the 2025/26 Futsal Champions League.

Across official matches for the senior team he has 92 appearances, 56 wins, 16 draws and 20 defeats, with 40 goals and 17 assists.

Corinthians have reshaped the squad for 2026, parting with seven players amid a reduced budget linked to debt near R$ 3 billion. They have made only two signings and are leaning on academy graduates.

Fernando Malafaia’s side face Praia Clube on Friday at 21:00, again at Ginásio Perinão in Gramado, in round two of the Super Copa Gramado.
