Arsenal’s Transfer Window Heats Up: Robbie Lyle Discusses Gyökeres, Madueke, Trossard and More

Arsenal’s summer transfer business is gathering momentum and Robbie Lyle, host of AFTV’s Transfer Daily podcast, gave a compelling breakdown of the latest developments in Monday’s episode. Speaking directly to fans after being at Wimbledon, Lyle said, “I thought I could get away from football for the day, no chance.”

From updates on Viktor Gyökeres to speculation around Noni Madueke and Leandro Trossard, this episode revealed a wave of critical movement behind the scenes at Arsenal.

Gyökeres Shows Arsenal Commitment

Arguably the standout segment of the podcast was the detailed focus on Sporting striker Viktor Gyökeres. “Viktor Gyökeresis on the verge of signing for Arsenal. This was fantastic news,” Robbie said enthusiastically. He added, “The deal that’s said to have been agreed is a five-year deal until June 2030.”

Gyökeres’ eagerness to make the move was clear. “He’s reportedly given up on nearly £2 million worth of wages so that the deal can go through,” Lyle revealed. “That shows you a player that is absolutely committed to play for Arsenal.” He reminded fans that despite interest from clubs like Manchester United, Chelsea, and several in Saudi Arabia, Gyökeres had said, “I only want to move to Arsenal.”

This marks a significant shift in Arsenal’s transfer strategy. “Arsenal now have made their decision. This is the player that Berta wanted,” Lyle stated, referencing the club’s recruitment lead. “At long last we’re getting a striker.”

Madueke Transfer Splits Fans and Presenter Alike

On the subject of Noni Madueke, the Chelsea winger, the tone shifted slightly. Robbie detailed an awkward encounter at Wimbledon where Chelsea fans mocked him about Arsenal’s interest in the player. “They were coming up saying to me, ‘Robbie, I support Chelsea. How you doing?’ With these big grins on their face.”

Lyle made his position clear, stating, “50 million for a player that plays on the right wing when we really need a left winger would not make any sense to me whatsoever.” He added, “In my opinion, keep that 50 million and go after somebody like a Rodrygo.”

Trossard Linked With Move to Turkey

In a quieter but still important segment, Lyle revealed that Leandro Trossard may be on the move. “Turkish Postnet, they’re reporting that Fenerbahce are interested in signing Trossard and actually have made an offer.” He clarified, “They’re offering Arsenal £15 million… Remember, he’s only got a year left on his contract.”

Although Trossard has been a valuable option on the left, the tone from Robbie suggested that his departure is a real possibility. “It’s looking to me like Trossard is going to be the one that’s going to be on the move this summer.”

Midfield Reinforced with Zubimendi

Earlier in the show, Lyle covered the completed signing of Martín Zubimendi from Real Sociedad. “Zubimendi finally signing for Arsenal… in a deal said to be worth £65 million.” He explained why Arsenal paid more than the release clause, noting, “They were able to structure the deal in instalments over a period of time.”

Robbie praised the quality of the new signing: “He’s going to wear the number 36 shirt… He will come in in that defensive midfield position. He’s one of the best around in that position at the moment.”

He added that Zubimendi will join Declan Rice and Martin Ødegaard in what he called “a pretty formidable” midfield.
