United back in action on Saturday in the late afternoon 5.30pm kick-off.

Eddie Howe tonight inducted into the Newcastle United Hall of Fame at the Newcastle United Foundation annual awards dinner.

The NUFC Head Coach though happy to give this major Newcastle United injury update as well.

Eddie Howe talking to Matthew Raisbeck of BBC Newcastle – 18 November 2025:

“I know a lot of your players aren’t back yet, but would you be able to update us on the fitness of a couple?

“Anthony Gordon didn’t go away with England, Nick Pope as well.

“And there had been some reports about Sandro Tonali maybe not being one hundred per cent fit because he didn’t play in Italy’s second game?”

Eddie Howe:

“We have a bit of a mixed bag.

“Anthony [Gordon] we will wait and see, it will be touch and go for the [Manchester City] game.

“Sandro [Tonali] should be fine.

“Nick [Pope] had concussion but he has passed the protocols there, so he should be fine.

“We have still got a few who we are nursing back.

“Tino Livramento, Lewis Hall in the early stages – although he has made a couple of really good appearances.

“Yoane Wissa is still out but starting to up his work now.

“So yeah, we are looking in a healthier place.”

My thoughts

Great news that both Sandro Tonali and Nick Pope are set to be available.

No surprise that Yoane Wissa will still be missing and I am guessing Tino Livramento won’t be available either.

Lewis Hall came off the bench against both Bilbao and Brentford, then started for the England Under 21s the other day, then also played half an hour today when coming off the bench as they defeated Slovakia Under 21s 4-0. Lewis Miley also coming off the bench in that game, as well as starting the other day.

I think Lewis Hall must be in line to start, whilst Anthony Gordon is an unknown. Eddie Howe says touch and go on Gordon but my gut feeling is that maybe the winger is set to be available. Here’s hoping anyway, as this is such a busy period of games coming up.

From Man City on Saturday (22 November) and up to and including Chelsea at home on Saturday 20 December, there are nine Newcastle matches in that four week period.
