Manchester City have stepped up efforts to bring back former goalkeeper James Trafford as part of Pep Guardiola’s squad overhaul ahead of the new season.

Reinforcements Already Secured

The Premier League champions have already signed several key names including:

  • Tijjani Reijnders (AC Milan)
  • Rayan Ait-Nouri (Wolves)
  • Rayan Cherki (Lyon)
  • Sverre Nypan (Rosenborg)
  • Marcus Bettinelli (Chelsea)

Trafford Back to the Etihad?

According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, City have made direct contact with Burnley’s Trafford who left the Etihad in summer 2023.

The 22 year old shot stopper's reportedly open to return but any move depends on financial negotiations.

City Want Discount on £40M Clause

Although Trafford's contract includes 40 million sterling pound buy back clause, City are pushing to reduce the fee before finalizing the deal.

Deal Hinges on Ederson's Future

This potential move is also linked to the possible departure of Ederson Moraes who has been strongly linked with Turkish giants Galatasaray.
