Man United announce Youri Tielemans signing | OneFootball

Manchester United have completed the signing of Belgium international Youri Tielemans from Aston Villa after triggering the £35 million release clause in his contract.

The 29-year-old midfielder has signed a five-year deal at Old Trafford, becoming United's third signing of the summer and continuing Michael Carrick's overhaul of the club's midfield.

Tielemans arrives after three impressive seasons at Aston Villa, where he made 134 appearances and played a key role in last season's Europa League triumph. The Belgian scored the opening goal in Villa's final victory over Freiburg and also contributed seven assists during the campaign.

The experienced midfielder has also enjoyed success with Leicester City, winning both the FA Cup and Community Shield before his move to Villa Park.

Tielemans joins Andrey Santos and goalkeeper Karl Darlow as United's latest additions ahead of the new campaign, with the club determined to strengthen after returning to the Champions League.

On the international stage, Tielemans has earned 90 caps for Belgium and captained his country during this summer's World Cup, scoring twice as the Red Devils reached the quarter-finals.
