Manchester United chief executive officer Omar Berrada is confident both men’s and women’s teams can win league titles by 2028.

Berrada told United staff of his “Project 150” vision in September 2024, where he wants both teams to win league titles by the time the club celebrates their 150th anniversary since their inception. This season United suffered their worst top-flight season since 1973/74.

In an interview United We Stand fanzine, Berrada says marking the milestone with title glory is a realistic target.

“It’s establishing a series of targets within a timeframe so we can focus our efforts and energy on that goal,” Berrada said.

“Can the team win the Premier League title by 2028? Of course.

“We’ve just finished 15th and it seems an impossible task. But why not aim for it? Why not do everything in our power? I firmly believe we can do it.

“We have two or three summer windows to build a team to start competing to win the Premier League.

“Nobody is saying we don’t want to win it until then. We’re setting ourselves a target with a specific time frame to go and aim for.”

Berrada also spoke on the similarities between head coach Ruben Amorim and Pep Guardiola, who he worked with whilst at Manchester City as their chief football operations officer. Guardiola had his own struggles in his first season at the Etihad.

“It was difficult in Pep’s first year. He didn’t win anything and there was suspicion about whether he could implement his football vision in the Premier League.

“People said he was arrogant and wouldn’t change his style of play. But he stuck to his principles and given what he’d won, he had an enormous amount of credit in the bank.

“He was allowed that first year to be below-par by his standards. The club backed him that summer, the team started winning and created this winning cycle that lasted until this season.”
