Man United set up historic pre-season match versus Leeds United

Manchester United are already making preparations for their pre-season training.

Whilst fans will be dreaming of big moves in the transfer market, pre-season fixtures are another crucial aspect of planning for the following season.

United have already lined up a pre-season fixture against Wrexham in Helsinki this July.

It seems that the Red Devils have also made plans for another pre-season fixture.

Croke Park versus Leeds United

Manchester United faced Leeds United in Oslo in 2023 and came out 2-0 winners.

The Red Devils also took on their old rivals last summer in Stockholm and played out a 0-0 draw.

The Irish Independent has reported that Manchester United and Leeds United will face off once again in another edition of the Lancashire/Yorkshire rivalry.

Croke Park stadium in Dublin is set to host Premier League teams for the first time and the match will take place on Wednesday 12th August.

The arena is usually a Gaelic Athletic Association (GAA) stadium which hosts All-Ireland finals in the Irish sports of Gaelic football and hurling.

It opened in 1884 and has a full capacity of 82,300 people.

The stadium has not hosted a football match since Ireland lost 0-1 to France in a World Cup qualifier in November 2009.

The historic stadium has been widening its use over recent years as Leinster have played some rugby matches at it and there was the hosting of an NFL game last September.

The Red Devils last played in the Irish capital in 2023 at the Aviva Stadium in a 1-1 draw with Athletic Club.

Michael Carrick’s side will also travel to Ireland in the coming few days to hold a mini-training camp to get the players up to speed after the international break and an unusual schedule which sees them not play again until Monday 13th April.
